The ongoing Corona Virus pandemic has brought stress and fear to international students in the U.S. and other countries heavily impacted by the virus. Schools have closed with no definite date in sight for reopening. Schools have moved to online learning platforms and students were advised to go and stay home. This is not easy for international students whose homes are thousands of miles away.
Many international students were worried and stressed by what is going on. Most of them wanted to go home to their family but are too afraid to do so. First reason is because they are scared of going to the airport and catch the virus there. Second is because they might get quarantined in an unfamiliar place. The last reason is the uncertainty of the situation where they return home but unsure if they can be accepted back to the U.S.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has already allowed schools to adapt measures and policies specific to international students to address the public health concern brought about by Covid-19. International students are now permitted to take online courses without jeopardizing their visa status.
Schools have been doing everything they can to look after the welfare of all students, including international students. Not only are they looking after the financial needs of students but more importantly on their emotional needs.
