Tuition and Academic Scholarships
 
Tuition
Scheduled to take effect in the fall quarter, 2012, tuition for the full time student is $1,800 or $150 per unit per quarter. A full time student must take a minimum of 12 units per quarter but may choose to take 16 units per quarter at no additional charge. Tuition for part time students who take less than 12 units is $600 per course or $150 per unit. A student is allowed to take a maximum of five courses or 20 units per quarter. Tuition for a student taking five courses or 20 units per quarter is $2,400.
    
Scholarship and Internship Requirements  
California International University awards a limited number of tuition-waver scholarships and Internships based on academic achievement. Initial scholarship is awarded only to newly incoming student; initial internship is awarded to student who completed at least one quarter at C.I.U. Applications to initiate should be made to the Admissions Office.
The Scholarship Committee or The Internship Committee will make all decisions regarding final scholarship and Internship offers.

Students applying for Scholarship or Internship must meet the following qualifications for considerations

Scholarships

A. Newly Applying Students
1. Be enrolled full time.
2. Reside legally in the United States.
3. Provide TOEFL score of 600 (iBT 100) for graduate students or 560 (iBT 84) for undergraduate students.
4. The student must be pursuing his/her first Bachelor's or Master's degree in the U.S.
5. The student is obligated to enroll for a minimum of three consecutive academic quarters.
6. The student must not have had an optional practical training in the U.S.
7. Pay tuition deposit of $900.00
8. Students with pending change of status may not apply.

B. Continuing Scholarship Students
1. Must maintain an overall GPA of 3.75.
2. Graduate students must not receive a grade lower than a B- and undergraduates must not receive a grade lower than a C.
3. Once a scholarship is awarded student has to follow the rules in the above Category A from 1 through 2 in order to continue scholarship.

Guided Study Scholarship

A. Newly Applying Students
1. Be enrolled full time.
2. Reside legally in the United States.
3. Must have an overall GPA of 3.75 and perfect attendance.
4. Provide TOEFL score of 550 (iBT 79) for graduate students or 500 (iBT 61) for undergraduate students.
5. The student must be pursuing his/her first Bachelor's or Master's degree in the U.S.
6. Submit a 400 words essay.
7. Provide two letters of recommendations; one from a C.I.U. professor, another one from outside.
8. Pay tuition deposit of $900.00
9. Pass an interview with the Scholarship Committee.

B. Continuing Internship Students
1. Submit a letter of satisfaction from the supervising professor.
2. Give a brief presentation of the project to the Scholarship Committee.
3. Once a Guided Study Scholarship is awarded student has to follow the rules in the above Category A from 1 through 3 in order to continue Scholarship.
